Introduction / History
There is a Greek diaspora in many countries, including Italy. The cultural connection between the Greeks and the Italians go back centuries to the days of the Greek Empire, which highly influenced the emerging Roman Empire. Greeks have been in what is now Italy since 800 years before Christ. They were common in Italy until 1922 when Italian fascists persecuted them, and many left. Some returned to Italy after WWII. Today Greeks are most likely to be found in Rome.
