The Takistani, a subgroup of the Talysh, inhabit the northwestern regions of Iran and part of neighboring Azerbaijan. Their land is one of sharp contrasts, ranging from the high, forested Talysh Mountains to the subtropical coastal land along the Caspian Sea. The style of their houses varies by region. Most Takistani are farmers, though some have become skilled craftsmen. Their primary handicraft materials include silk and felt. Some weave rugs, some work with tin, make shoes, or design jewelry.
Even with a large population, we know of no Christ followers among the Takistani. Most Christ followers in Iran are urban people who speak Farsi, the national language. They will need to hear the gospel from those outside their group.
Pray for God to stir up and empower faithful believers in Iran to take the gospel to the Takistani.
Pray for the Takistani to crave the holiness that comes from Jesus Christ.
Pray that soon there will be Takistani fellowships of Christ-centered believers.
