Introduction

Traditionally the Kudumi were hunters and fishermen. The Kudumi work in farming, animal production, day labor and other work. They have a traditional wise man called a Budvantha to settle disputes and a community council to look after their interests. Boys are given some education, but girls are given very little. They commonly marry their cousins. After the death of the father, sons inherit the property with the oldest son taking charge of the family estate. The mother of the bride cannot go to the wedding of her daughter. They have a joint family system which means that often ten people live in one household.

Though the Kudumi live near Christians and churches, they have not submitted to Christ. There are unseen spiritual impediments.
