Introduction / History

There are both Hindu and Muslim Khatik people, both of which have low status. They live scattered throughout India and Pakistan. Another name for them is Qassab. Their ancestors came to South Asia from Arabia hundreds of years ago.

What Are Their Lives Like?

They are a professional caste of butchers and slaughterers of animals and selling meat. Many of them are now engaged in business or work as daily-wage labors. They have low status because they deal with the dead.

The saying applies here, "Once in a caste forever in a caste." The Khatik caste can receive dignity, and their future can be changed by the one and only true God. By receiving Jesus Christ, the Khatik people can receive hope and a future.
