Introduction / History

The Abors are also called Adi. Adi is also the name of their language. They live in India’s northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Most farmers use slash-and-burn farming methods. They grow rice, corn, millet, and vegetables. Fishing, hunting, and gathering wild goods in the forest supplement their diets. Some of these goods they trade.

In recent years, some have diversified into handicrafts, weaving, and tourism-related activities, especially eco-tourism.

What Are Their Beliefs?

We know so little about them that we can’t define their religion. It is probably a form of animism blended with Hinduism. There are some traditional Christians among them.

What Are Their Needs?

Abors need to hear the gospel from someone they can trust. There are Christians in their part of India.

Prayer Points

Pray for the Lord to send hundreds of workers into Arunachal Pradesh to take Christ to the Abors.
Pray that soon there will be Abor fellowships and disciple-making groups.
Pray for the Lord to show himself powerful by providing them with an abundant harvest.
