Budug (Budukh) live in Azerbaijan. The Budukhic language belongs to the Lezgin subgroup of the Caucasian (Dagestan) languages. The written language and literature are based upon the Azerbaijan language. Budug is a dying language.
The main occupations of the Budug are farming and cattle production. They grow grains, especially barley and rye. Others are traders.
The Budug are Sunni Muslims. However, there are some vibrant Christians among them who can be Christ bearers to their Muslim neighbors.
The Budug people need the chance to hear and respond to the life-changing gospel.
Pray that the Holy Spirit would prepare the hearts of these people for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Pray for God to motivate Russian, Georgian and Armenian Christians to become involved in prayer for the people of Dagestan, and in evangelism among them.
Pray for Budug Christians to evangelize and disciple Muslims in Azerbaijan.
Scripture Prayers for the Budug in Azerbaijan.
Hope for Europe
